Vintage Inlay Ring
Handmade by master artisans Richard & Geneva Terrazas vintage oval crown with inlay of turquoise, coral, onyx and mother of pearl size 9 1/2 ring. c 1990. Inlay is a form of jewelry where a stone is cut and polished to a unique shape and glued. There are no prongs or padded settings on inlay pieces. Once the stone is set it is typically the same level as the surrounding metal forming a smooth surface. This ring is wonderful statement and pairs well with your favorite bolo tie or cuff. Richard and Geneva, the husband and wife duo started producing Native American jewelry in the 1980s. They specialize in cobblestone inlay. Besides cutting the stones so that they fit into an intricate pattern as regular inlay does, the artist must also bevel each stone on every edge. The precision and time put into each piece is a testament of the artist skill.
